GENDER ROLE IN HEALTH CARE

Hi, today I'm going to talk about the gender role in health, which is a topic very interesting, because for many years has been discussed.
First a definition of gender roles: these are a set of roles and different expectations for women and men that make a difference on how to be, how to feel and how to act. In health care, men work with men users and women work with women users, because that is more comfortable for the user. Men to have more strength is it’s easier work with big users, for woman is more difficult work with big users why this task is performed by men especially when it comes to mobilizing.
The responsibilities should be the same, as what's the deal with the user. The exception occurs when the user must be mobilized and is very weighty and it requires great strength for realize this work. Once the doctors were mostly men, today is more equitable, midwifery in years ago was very rare to see men practicing the profession, is now more common to find a midwife man in maternity wards.
The salaries are different; men earn more money than women, this occur in different industrial area, and the health area is no exception, this depending on area where he or she work. In the area of medicine are requested men, but in area of nursing and midwifery are the most requested women.
In terms of professional development, the social area of medicine is done mostly by women, care of the sick, and the men realize the scientific work, the investigation.
